Thank you, Martin! Landon loved his European adventure. He had a great time with you, the coaches and the other kids. This was an experience that he will always treasure! Thank you for all your efforts on such a successful trip. I appreciate how organized you were and how you kept the children safe, well-fed and on schedule!

Anil and I wanted to thank you for a most memorable trip for Finley and Annika. They both had a wonderful time and tennis experience, and we wanted to send you and the coaches our biggest thanks for all of your hard work in running such a complex and amazing trip. We are so grateful they were able to be part of your 50th Anniversary team and feel so lucky they were able to have this incredible experience. Thank you for all you do to bring the joy of travel, tennis, and new experiences to these kids.

Thank you so much for all that you do, and for this incredible experience you gave to both of my children. We have been enjoying hearing about Max's adventures and it is clear that he really had a fabulous time. The coaches were fabulous as well. Thank you for your care, for keeping him safe and providing him with an experience that he will never, ever forget, and for friendships that hopefully last a lifetime.

I just wanted to write you and say thanks for a wonderful trip for Will this summer. He had such a good time, and it seems he had a terrific team of kids and coaches. He has definitely made some friends for life. Thanks again for a wonderful experience!

Caroline is home and had a great trip. I think there are many kids from Arkansas that will be interested in years to come. She loved her coaches. She has not stopped talking about her trip. She has won three Level 5s since being back, against people she never beat before. Thank you, Tennis: Europe!

As excited as we are to have Kayleigh back home, we can tell she is a bit disheartened to be away from the close friendships you have afforded her on and off the court during her time with you. In her words exactly: “This is one of the best experiences of my life.” For that, we are so grateful. Thank you to each and every one of you for making this such an unforgettable gift for Kayleigh.

Thank you again for an incredible trip for our daughter. We found it to be an amazing life experience for her. We appreciate that it was very well run — a nice balance of committed tennis, sightseeing and downtime. We appreciate that you found a way to get players of varying levels into the right flights/tournaments and to manage finding nice accommodations, restaurants and sightseeing opportunities that worked around the tennis.

P. had a fabulous trip and I'm sure he'll be so sad to be back home! He just played his first tournament after getting home from the trip and he won the whole thing!

Tennis: Europe was a fantastic way to see new things and meet new people. I had so much fun making new friends. I was also grateful to get a taste of a new and higher level of tennis while I was there, and have the opportunity to learn from a great Tennis: Europe coaching staff. The trip helped me in so many ways, and I am now motivated to play more and to refine my tennis skills.

Jahari E. Blake · New Windsor, New York

We think the program offered a very nice blend of tennis and other activities. We are blown away by how well the coaches juggled all of the different schedules and locations and made sure all of the kids stayed busy.

I've been on two Tennis: Europe trips and they not only improved my tennis game and fitness but truly strengthened my love for the sport.

Zoe Kava · New York, New York

Tennis: Europe was an unbelievable experience that combined competitive tennis, making new friends from around the country who are as passionate as I am about tennis, and the opportunity to see the sights of Europe.

From our 25th-anniversary reunion (1970s–1990s)

There are few experiences that have changed so many lives as has Tennis: Europe. For me, images of the Matterhorn of Zermatt and the sunsets of Maui are etched in my mind. And the smiles of those I traveled with are forever etched in my heart.

Scott Laidlaw · Greeley, Colorado · Staff Member and Assistant Director, 1994–1996

One memory of Tennis: Europe occurred in a small town in Holland. I was staying with a family who had two young children. When I arrived, I was quite upset that the family spoke no English. However, I stayed there and, as the week progressed, the family came and supported me while I was playing in the tournament and also fed me better than I could have ever imagined. The language difference was not a problem. By the end of the week, I was upset that I had to leave. I had learned to be accepting of those who were different, a quality that has come in handy in many instances since my trip.

Neil Glass · Bexley, Ohio · Player, 1988

Growing from “little brother” on my first Tennis: Europe trip to “Big Daddy” on my third trip, and learning from my European host families — all contributed to my confidence in meeting and dealing with people in college and the world thereafter.

Peter Sydney · Armonk, New York · Player, 1981–1984

The relationships that we formed in Europe have lasted a lifetime.

Lisa and Dr. Paul Hoffstein · Merion Park, Pennsylvania · Player 1975 & Staff 1981 · Staff 1978–1981

The experience of traveling to Europe and playing under conditions that were different from the States — while playing competition — helped me prepare for the conditions of playing as a professional. I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity to play overseas. I would tell anyone that they should sign up for Tennis: Europe.

Mel Purcell · Murray, Kentucky · Player, 1975 & 1977

Looking back, for me Tennis: Europe was one of the greatest experiences of my life. One day at a USTA junior tournament I just mentioned to Coach Martin Vinokur, “Wouldn't it be great to go over to Europe to play tennis tournaments?” A year later — in 1973 — five players and Coach were on our way to Europe. I am amazed at what Coach has developed since that time.
