PBI – Tennis: Europe Team

With a combined total of almost 90 years of experience, PBI and Tennis: Europe are pleased to invite you to improve your match play in spectacular locations while seeing the world as a student-athlete.  Have you ever dreamed about playing in the shadow of the Alps, seeing the Grand Slam tournament at Wimbledon, making new friends from around the world through tennis and playing on the shores of the Mediterranean in Spain?  You will expand your horizons, learn life lessons and have plenty of fun, while becoming a better match player.

First Location: June 30-July 5 – Going, Tirol, Austria

Our tennis odyssey begins in the Austrian Alps at the PBI Resort Stanglwirt, where PBI coaches prepare you for the later tournaments by familiarizing you with the slow red clay courts of Europe.  Focus on footwork, steadiness, shot placement, patterns, strategy and mental approach.  You will visit the resort towns of Salzburg and Innsbruck during our early 5 day stay and do some hiking, swimming and other outdoor sports.

Second Location: July 5-8 – London / Wimbledon

See Wimbledon the first Friday, round of 64 or 32, wander the grounds to view a number of top matches.  Last summer, we even got some top players’ autographs.  Besides the All-England Club, you take a “London Walks” professional tour, visit the Tower of London, Piccadilly and spend an optional evening at a West End London theatre.

Third Location: July 8 – July 15: Utrecht, Holland

This junior tournament in a scenic, small Dutch town near Utrecht, has age group singles, doubles, mixed doubles and consolation, assuring plenty of matches. The friendly Dutch offer a number of social activities, with an option of staying with Dutch tennis families (or at a nearby hotel). You visit Amsterdam to see the Riksmuseum or Van Gogh Museum, the Anne Frank house and, if time permits, a canal boat ride through the “Venice of the North.”

Fourth Location: July 15 – July 24: Castelldefels and Barcelona, Spain

  • Our final tournament is in a suburb of Barcelona with 2 or 3 singles per player. This scenic club has over 20 courts, with practice at a nearby club. Housing is at a hotel in Castelldefels, a scenic beachside resort. Spain has some of the best tennis in the world. Added bonus: you can practice your Spanish language skills non-stop with the option of taking classroom Spanish for 5 weekdays at any ability level.
  • You conclude the trip in the former Olympic City of Barcelona, visiting the Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s unfinished church, the harbor area, the FC Barcelona Camp Nou stadium tour and football museum. You also can do your souvenir and gift shopping on the Gran Via and the “Old Town.” You fly home from Barcelona on Tuesday July 24.
