Experience three different tennis academies in three different countries on this trip, learning from top coaches in Spain, Holland and Croatia. A Tennis: Europe supervisor will accompany this team of up to 15 players to provide off the court activities, sights and supervision. We open at the Barcelona Tennis Academy in the suburb of Castelldefels, Spain, managed by Raphael Maurer, a former Assistant Director for Tennis: Europe. The Barcelona region has an international reputation for world-class training in a beautiful setting. The host club is a 10 minute walk from the beach and 15 km from the centre of Barcelona itself. The BTA program averages about 5 hours a day on court and also includes fitness, mental, technical and tactical coaching at your own level. We will also get familiar with playing on red clay, the major surface of Europe. Barcelona sights include Sagrada Familia church of Gaudi, the Ramblas walking street, Harbor area, and the home stadium of European Champion FC Barcelona. We then fly on to the Amstelpark Tennis Academy just outside Amsterdam, where we have played tournaments for many years. We will house at the facility. Like BTA, Amstelpark Tennis Academy offers both on court and off court fitness, mental instruction with an emphasis on developing a personal style of play. Director Hugo Ekker is a former national coach of Dutch youth teams and has formed a team of experts to teach on his 21 clay and 11 indoor courts. Our sightseeing in Amsterdam will include the Anne Frank house, Riksmuseum or Van Gogh Museum and, if time permits, a canal boat ride in the "Venice of the North." We conclude with a visit to the Umag Tennis Academy in Croatia in a seaside resort area with housing next door. The Academy has 4 hours of on-court instruction and one hour of fitness for 6 days. A unique attraction is that the 27. ATP Croatia Open Umag will be taking place evenings. We will have tickets for many of the week-long match sessions--the players in 2015 were ranked ATP between #17 and #70 (Monfils, Agut, Kohlschreiber, etc.). Our hosts will arrange meetings with the pros who also conduct morning youth clinics daily. This tournament has a small town atmosphere where you can see matches virtually at courtside and have social activities each evening post-matches. We conclude our trip with a day of sightseeing in Venice, Italy, two hours north of Umag, before flying back to the USA on July 26. Experience tennis academies like you never have before, using Tennis: Europe's expertise and American supervision.
